Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Women's Soccer Rolls in Opening Round of TranSouth Tournament

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/23/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs continued their record setting season with a 7-0 win over Cumberland University (Tenn.) in the first round of the . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (13-4) advances to play a semifinal match versus the #2 seeded Bethel College Lady Wildcats on Friday, October 26 at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tenn.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ' leading goal scorer on the season, Caitlin Zimmerman added three more goals to her Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ record of 20 goals on the year. Zimmerman's three goals put Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ up 3-0 in the first 35 minutes of play. It also marked her third hat-trick of the season. Nikki Burau added a goal in the 37th minute to put Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ up 4-0 going into the half. In the second half, Candice Blackard recorded two straight goals, including a penalty kick goal just three minutes into the second half. Jill Landers added Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's seventh and final goal of the match.

For Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Roxanna Skelton, Brooke Walker, and Cara Pasley each added one assist in the match.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ starting goalie Laura Pla played a most uneventful 75 minutes, recording no saves. This week's TranSouth Defensive Player of the Week, Kaitie Moser, recorded two saves in the final 15 minutes of play.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out shot Cumberland 34-7 on the day, including 22-2 in shots-on-goal.

The 13 wins for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as a team continues to add to the team record for wins in a season (the previous best was the 10 wins in 2006).
