麻豆视频's Men Hold off Lambuth for 3-1 Soccer Win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/2/2007 - The 麻豆视频 University men's soccer team added to the log jam atop the TranSouth standings with a 3-1 win over cross-town rival Lambuth University (Tenn.). The win bolts 麻豆视频 (6-7 overall) to a 4-1 league record, which puts the Bulldogs in a four-way tie with Lambuth (7-3-1 overall), Bethel, and Mid-Continent for first place in the TranSouth.

麻豆视频 and Lambuth played to a very uneventful first half with neither offense able to build a scoring threat. The two teams, in front of almost 1500 people, played to a scoreless tie after 45 minutes of play.

In the second half, the offenses began to loosen up. In the 52nd minute, 麻豆视频 broke the scoreless tie with a goal from Richard Norman. Then, just two minutes later, 麻豆视频's Benny Crozier's goal gave 麻豆视频 a quick 2-0 lead. That score stood until Crozier added a goal on a penalty kick in the 69th minute to put 麻豆视频 up 3-0. Lambuth's offense didn't quit as they were able to get several shots late to attempt the comeback. With six minutes left in the match, Lambuth's Paul Pinter broke the shutout with the Eagles' only goal.

Franki Mocellin and Paul Turner recorded assists for 麻豆视频.

麻豆视频 goalie Chris Lean posted five saves while Brenton Saylor of Lambuth also posted five saves.

麻豆视频 will play again on Saturday, October 6 at Cumberland for a 3:00 pm conference match.
