JACKSON, Tenn. - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University improved to 2-0 in the TranSouth Conference play and 13-1 overall as the No.3 ranked Lady Bulldogs defeated Cumberland University (5-10-1-1) 101-68. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Stephanie Clark led five Lady Bulldogs in double figures.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ used exceptional shooting from the field and an equally impressive defensive effort to earn the 33-point win. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 56% from the field for the game, including 61% in the first half. From the three point line, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made 9-15 (60%) for the game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also made 20-of-26 free throws for 77%. Cumberland was held to just 38% shooting from the field and 28% (5-18) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored 35 points off of 23 Cumberland turnovers.
In addition to Clark's 20 point and six rebound effort to lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Molly York scored 19 points, Ginger Bryant and Jennifer Henson tallied 18 points each, and Christina Smith added 15 for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Jennifer Henson made 4-of-5 three pointers in the game.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will host Lambuth University on Monday night, January 12 in a double header. The women will play at 6:00 p.m. and the men will follow at 8:00 p.m.
