Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Rallies to Top Oklahoma Baptist

The No. 3 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat No. 5 Oklahoma Baptist University Lady Bison 54-51. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 10-0 on the season while Oklahoma Baptist falls to 7-2.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ jumped out to an 8-2 lead early but the rest of the half belonged to the Lady Bison. Oklahoma Baptist went on a 29-10 run to close the half and took al 31-18 halftime lead. The first proved to be a sloppy first half for both teams as a combined 39 turnovers were committed. However, Oklahoma Baptist's 69% (11-16) shooting from the field in the first half was the difference, including 50% (3-6) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ managed just 32% (7-22) from the field, including 11% (1-9) from behind the arc.

Like the first half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ started the second half strong with a 5-0 run to cut the 13-point lead down to eight points. And also like the first half, Oklahoma Baptist responded and built a 14-point again. Oklahoma Baptist led 39-25 at the 13:23 mark and that was the biggest lead for the Lady Bison in the second half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ started to slowly cut into the lead with the three-point shot. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made five during the second half, all in a stretch of 10 minutes. Sophomore guard Jennifer Henson lead the Lady Bulldogs in the second half. After only having five points at halftime, Jennifer Henson filled the shows of her older sister Jessica, who is out with a knee injury, by scoring 20 second half points including four three pointers in the second half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ tied the game with 6:27 left on a Jennifer Henson three pointer. Jennifer Henson also led the Lady Bulldogs at the foul line by make both of her only two fouls shots with 23 seconds left to give Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ a 1-point lead and their first of the second half. Oklahoma Baptist had a final shot at the win as Jadrea Seeley, the 2002 NAIA Player of the Year, had her shot blocked by Miriam Wandanda. Ginger Bryant for the Lady Bulldogs got the rebound, was fouled, and made her two free throws to give the Lady Bulldogs a three-point lead and a 54-51 lead.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will host No. 2 Southern Nazarene on Saturday night in the final game of the Rotary Classic at 8:00 p.m. Southern Nazarene is the NAIA defending National Champions.
