Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University lost to the No. 5 ranked Georgetown College Tigers 66-54 at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on Saturday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, ranked No. 16 in the NAIA, falls to 14-5 on the season while Georgetown improved to 18-4. Georgetown has not lost to an NAIA opponent with their only losses coming at the hands of NCAA Div. I opponents.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ started the game with a 7-0 run. However, Georgetown followed that run with 10 straight points of their own to take a 10-7 lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ trailed for the remainder of the game as Georgetown stretched their lead to 13 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ rallied to cut the margin to 11 at halftime, 35-24. In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ got as close a seven points but just could seem to make the big shot to cut the lead even more. Georgetown used their always tough defense and allowed Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on 35% shooting from the field incluing just 25% (5-20) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's defense also showed to be just as tough as they held Georgetown to 66 total points, the third lowest of the season for Georgetown. The Tigers came into the game with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ averaging 101 points per game.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ plays again on Monday, January 26 at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ versus Arkansas Baptist. The women will play at 6:00 p.m. and the men will follow at 8:00 p.m.
