Â鶹ÊÓƵ Tops Freed-Hardeman in TranSouth Soccer

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ University Bulldogs (9-4-1/2-3) defeated Freed-Hardeman University 2-1 in a TranSouth Conference match in Henderson, Tennessee. Â鶹ÊÓƵ now needs just one win in their final two conferences games to secure a spot in the TranSouth Conference Tournament in November.

Both teams played a scoreless first half with neither team playing very aggressively. "We came out of the gates very flat", says Â鶹ÊÓƵ head Coach Dr. Darin White. He adds, "It was good to see the team respond in the second half and dominate." Â鶹ÊÓƵ out shot Freed-Hardeman 13-7 in the game including 9-1 during the second half. Kekec Zivkovic scored the first goal of the game on a Mark Forrest assist. Clovis Simas added the second and game winning goal for Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Late in the game, the Lions scored their first goal to make the final 2-1 in favor of Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ goalie Robert Stinson recored four saves on the day with his Lion counterpart tallying seven saves.

This marks the second straight season that Â鶹ÊÓƵ has swept the three local colleges, including Lambuth, Freed-Hardeman, and Bethel. However, this season, each win for the Bulldogs came on the road. Dating back to 2001, Â鶹ÊÓƵ has won 10 straight games versus West Tennessee teams, outscoring them 46-9 during that stretch. This also was Â鶹ÊÓƵ's second conference win of the season and junior forward, Clovis Simas has recorded the game winning goal in each win.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ will travel to Cumberland University on Monday and with a win, will secure a spot in next month's TranSouth Conference Tournament.
