The No. 7 Ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs won two games today in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Invitational Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs topped Olivet Nazarene University 3-0 in the first game and rolled Grace College 16-0 in the second game. Freshman, Mary Kosco threw her first career collegiate no-hitter for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in the win over Grace. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 9-1 on the season. Olivet is 3-1 overall and Grace is 0-2 on the year.
In game one, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored a run in the second and two more in the fourth to earn the 3-0 win. Leah Gronberg pitched seven innings of three hit ball while striking out nine batters. Gronberg improves to 4-1 on the season. Leading Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on the offensive side were freshmen Jessica Kee and Holly Haycraft with two hits apiece. Kee also drove in two runs on the day with a double. Olivet Nazarene was led by Alicia Hammel with a 2-of-3 performace at the plate. Emily Johnston took the loss for Olivet Nazarene giving up three earned runs on seven hits.
In game two, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ used two big innings to put this game away. The Lady Bulldogs scored seven runs in the second and nine more in the fourth for their biggest output of the season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ tallied 16 runs on 12 hits and two Grace College errors. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's freshman pitcher, Mary Kosco, tossed her first collegiate no-hitter while striking out 10 batters over five innings. Kosco is now 5-0 on the season. Jessica Kee continued her hot hitting as she remained perfect on the day going 3-for-3 in the second game. Haycraft and Leah Gronberg each talled two hits for the Lady Bulldogs. For Grace College, Amy Smith took the loss as she game up 12 runs on nine hits over 3.1 innings. S. Herbst pitched the final two-thirds of the inning giving up four runs on three hits.
