Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Upset Bid Ends in an Overtime Loss at Lee

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University entered the TranSouth Conference Tournament as the No. 8 seed having to travel to the top seeded Lee University. Lee defeated the Bulldogs 96-87 in overtime. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ ends their season at 17-15 while Lee advances to the semifinals with record of 23-7. This ends Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's streak of five consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led all of the first half including a 39-35 lead at the break. The Bulldogs led by as many as 11 points on five different occasions but couldn't hold on as Lee overcame a seven point deficit with two minutes left to force overtime. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 78-71 with two minutes remaining. Lee went on a 11-4 run to tie the game 82-82. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ hurt its chances by missing four free throws in the final minute of regulation.

In overtime, Lee took the lead early and never trailed again. Lee outscored Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 14-5 in the extra period.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by second team All-TranSouth performer Bruno Martinessi with 23 points and Chima Abakwue with 21 points. Senior forward Derrick Underwood scored 17 points, Michael Palmer added 13 points, and Will Harris scored 12 for the Bulldogs. Lee was led by Armard Ross with a game high 36 points and 11 rebounds. Rocky Lane added a double-double of his own with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ander Pinedo and Chuckie Campbell each scored 12 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 56% from the field including 38% (8-21) from behind the arc. Lee posted 45% shooting from the field and 42% (8-19) from behind the arc.
