Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ continued where they left off on Friday down in Montgomery, Alabama at the Capital City Classic as the No. 20 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Bulldogs defeated No. 14 North Georgia 7-5. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is now 3-0 on the season.
Jackson native Nash Powell earned his first win of the seaosn by pitching 5.2 innings and giving up five runs, four of which came in the six inning. Todd Winchester earned his second save of the weekend by pitching a scoreless inning and a third.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored three runs in the first and another two runs in the second to take a 5-0 lead. This sixth inning saw Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ tack on another run to take a 6-1 lead, however, North Georgia tallied four times in the bottome of the sixth to cut Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's lead to just one. The Bulldogs added a run in the seventh and that held for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's third win of the season. Two other Jackson locals each hit homeruns in the game as Roger Cook and Joel Hysmith went deep. Steve Sweat and Brandon Jackson added a double each. Jackson led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with two hits on the day.
