The 20th ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ baseball team is off to a hot start as they defeated No. 5 Faulkner 5-4 in the Captial City Classic in Montgomery, Alabama. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 2-0 while Faulkner is 0-1. Garrett Pepper (1-0) recorded the win for the Bulldogs.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored three runs in the second inning and one run in each the bottom of the sixth and seventh to get the win. The Bulldogs' five runs came on 10 hits they committed only one error. Faulkner scored four runs on five hits and two errors. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's run in the bottom of the seventh broke a 4-4 tie and lifted Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to their second win of the day over a ranked opponent.
Jason Johnson went 3-for-3 on the day with two doubles. Roger Cook went 3-for-4 while Josh Allen and Brandon Jackson each went 2-for-3. Andy Davidson got the start and pitched 5.1 innings giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits and he recored eight strikeouts. Pepper pitched 1.2 innings of one hit, one run ball to pick up the win.
