The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University basketball team began their quest for their eighth consecutive conference championship as they defeated Lee University . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 31-2 overall while Lee ends their season at 9-21.
Lee jumped out to a 6-2 lead early in the game. Little did they know that they would not score for 12 minutes. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ went on a 32-0 run to take a 34-6 lead. With 7 minutes left in the first half, Lee final scored. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 53-17 at halftime. The second half was much of the same as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ came out firing. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outscored Lee 48-36 in the second half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 48% from the field and 29% (6-21) from the three point line. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made 19-of-23 free throws. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ held Lee to just 34% shooting from the field and 7% (1-15) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also outrebounded Lee 58-34 including 26-17 on the offensive boards.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led paced with five players in double figures. Jessica Henson led with 20 points. Tashekia Brown and Ginger Bryant added 19 points apiece, Monica Elliot scored 13 points and Allison Harrison scored 11. Harrison and Bryant each tallied double-doubles for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as Harrison grabbed 12 rebounds and Bryant added 11 boards. Lee was led by Holly Hamilton with a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Heidi Hamilton added 14 points.
