The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldogs, behind 31 points from junior Jessica Henson, defeated Martin Methodist 87-63 in Pulaski, Tenn. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is now 23-1 overall and 9-0 in TranSouth play. Martin Methodist falls to 8-12 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led just 36-29 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs shot only 32% from the field in the first half. However, an 51 point explosion in the second half sparked by 56% shooting from the field put the game out of reach. The Lady Bulldogs made 50% of their three pointers (9-18) in the last twenty minutes. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ attempted 75 shots in the game compared to only 45 from Martin Methodist. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ force 33 turnovers in the game and scored 38 points from the miscues.
Henson led with 31 points on 7-of-18 shooting from behind the arc. Christal Merriweather added 14 points while Tashekia Brown added 11. Senior center Allison Harrison tallied a game-high 13 rebounds for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Martin Methodist was led by Juli Powers and Kim Loop with 15 points, Erin Lindroth added 13, and Zuzana Janesikova scored 10 points. Loop also led the RedHawks with seven boards.
The Lady Bulldogs stand alone the top of the TranSouth Conference with a 9-0 record. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will host Freed-Hardeman on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2:00 p.m. Freed-Hardeman (8-1) fell on Thursday at Lyon and dropped out of a tie for first with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
