Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University remained perfect in TranSouth play with their 68-57 victory over Trevecca Nazarene University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 19-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference while Trevecca falls to 14-3 overall and 2-2 in the Transouth.
Trevecca jumped out early and took an eight point lead on Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. The Lady Bulldogs then rallied the troops and regained the lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by as many as 11 points in the first half. However, a late run by Trevecca capped off by a three-pointer at the buzzer from Jennifer Wilson cut Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's lead to just three. At the half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 32-29. The second half saw both teams score early and often. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ held on to a three point lead most of the second half until with three minutes to play, a three pointer by Jessica Henson and key buckets by Merriweather extended Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's lead and sealed the game.
Senior forward Allison Harison led the the way for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 17 points in just 15 minutes of play. Christal Merriweather and Jessica Henson added 16 and 15 points repectively. Tashekia Brown led the Lady Bulldogs with nine rebounds. For Trevecca, Jennifer Wilson led all scorers with 19 points. Audrey Leatherman added 17 points for the Lady Trojans.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ takes a week off, but will play next on Thursday, January 30 when they travel to Lyon College for a 6:00 p.m. start time.
