Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University improved to 5-0 in the TranSouth with a decisive victory over Blue Mountain 101-53. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 18-1 overall and Blue Mountain is now 6-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Behind the strong performance of last week's conference player of the week Ginger Bryant, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ exploded for 57 points in the first half. Byrant scored 26 oints and Jessica Henson added 21 to lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Miriam Wandanda and Christal Merriweather each added 13 while Laura Mitchell poured in 12 points on 4 of 8 shooting from behind the arc. Blue Mountain was led by Christy Turner with 14. Heather Johnson and Tracy Rice added 12 points each.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ force 38 Blue Mountain turnovers and scored 37 points from those. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 56% from the field on the night but only 28% (7-25) from behind the arc.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ plays next on Thursday night as they host conference foe Trevecca Nazarene in a battle of NAIA Top 10 teams. Gametime is at 6:00 p.m.
