The Lady Bulldogs of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University fought past a slow start to earn an important conference road win over Cumberland by the score of 90-61. No. 2 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 14-1 overall and 2-0 in the TranSouth, while Cumberland University falls to 7-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led only 32-31 at the half and that was after Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ had trailed by as many as six in the first half. Early in the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ went on a quick run to put increase their lead to 15 points. After that, Cumberland got no closer that 12 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outscored Cumberland 58-30 in the second half.
Juniors Jessica Henson and Christal Merriweather paced Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 20 points each. Fellow junior, Ginger Bryant added 11 on the night. Seniors Allison Harrison and Tashekia Brown led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with five rebounds each. For Cumberland, Sheree Driver led all scorers with 25 points.
