Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Defeates Lambuth 74-59

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University won their second straight game on Thursday as they defeated cross-town rival Lambuth University 74-59. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 13-11 overall while Lambuth falls to 17-9 on the season.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ jumped out early with hot shooting and great defense. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 33-13 after 10 minutes of play. The lead ranged from 16 to 21 points for the remainder of the half before the Bulldogs took a 44-24 lead at the break. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 62% from the field including 38% (3-8) from behind the arc. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ held Lambuth to just 28% shooting and 19% (3-16) from three point land. In the second half, the tide changed when Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ came out cold and Lambuth scored on four straight possesions to cut into the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ lead. Lambuth got within seven points, but that would it. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ held off Lambuth in the second half without making a single three pointer (0-7). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot only 66% from the free throw line in the game, however they shot 73% in the second half to seal the game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 48% from the field and 20% 93-15) from behind the arc. Lambuth managed only 31% from the field and 23% (7-31) from behind the arc.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Bruno Martinessi with 23 points. Chima Abakwue added 16 points with two three pointers and Will Harris added 15 points. Martinessi, Abakwue, and Harris all helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ seal the game late as those three were a combined 19-for-21 from the free throw line. Derrick Underwood was just shy of a double-double with his nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Lambuth was led by A.D. McCreight with 24 points and Antonio Rhodes added 12 points. Terrell Green grabbed 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
