Two night following a three point overtime loss at Lambuth, the Bulldogs saw another great effort fall just short. In both teams TranSouth Conference opener, Berry College defeated Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 72-64 in overtime . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ falls to 9-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Berry improves to 14-5 and 1-0 in the conference.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 29-28 at the break and led by as many as seven in the second half. However, with less than a minute remaining, Bo Abney of Berry converted layup to tie the game at 60. A Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ turnover and a Berry missed shot in the final seconds sent the game to overtime. Berry outscored Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 12-4 in the extra period to seal the game.
The Bulldogs had three players in double figures led by Bruno Martinessi with 14. Michael Katrosh added 12 and Chima Abakwue scored 10. Martinessi added a game high nine rebounds. Berry was led by Bo Abney with a game high 18 points. Ben Elliot and Stacey Scotton added 13 and 10 respectively. A telling factor in the loss was Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 20 turnovers compared to Berry's eight.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will host Lee University on Saturday, January 18 at 4:00 p.m. in hopes of evening their conference mark and stopping a two game skid.
