Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Soccer Gets First Win in Florida
Clearwater, Fla.--Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University captured their first win of the season by defeating Clearwater Christian College 1-0. With this victory, the Bulldogs even their record on the season at 1-1.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored the only goal of the game 10 minutes into the action on a driving kick by Joe Phiri and senior defender, Nikola Barjaktarevic was recorded with the assist. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ would out-shoot Clearwater 14-2 with most of the shots coming in the second half. The Bulldogs would hit the crossbar on four different occations during the second half. Coach White claimed "I was impressed with the way our guys dominated the game on both sides of the ball." Junior goalkeeper, Jeff Lean tallied two saves on the game while recording his first shut-out of the 2001 season. Lean is coming off a 2000 season in which he set a Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ record with nine shut-outs.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will travel to South Bend, Indiana next Friday and Saturday to participate in the Bethel College Indiana Tournament.
