Cumberland University (Tenn.) vs. Bulldog Soccer

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Result: W 4-2

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ snapped their two game losing streak with a 4-2 win over No. 20 Cumberland University (Tenn.). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 6-5-1 overall and 2-2 in TranSouth Conference play. Cumberland falls to 6-2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

After being held scoreless for two straight games, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ erupted for three goals in the first half of Saturday's game. Christopher Anthony, a freshman from Jackson, scored the games first goal eight minutes into action. Clovis Simas of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ followed with a goal only five minutes later. A goal by Cumberland's Luke Photoivihok cut the score in half before Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Joe Phiri scored with just three minutes remaining before the half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 3-1 at the break.

In the second half, both teams swapped goals as Cumberland's Photivihok scored his second goal of the game to bring Cumberland within one. Then, with four minutes in the game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Joe Phiri put the game away with his second goal of the game to give Unio the much needed conference win.

For Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Josue Tuchez, Kekec Zivkovic, Adrian Yeung, and Clovis Simas each tallied one assist.

Next up for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be Freed-Hardeman on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7:00 p.m. at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University.
