Decatur, Ala. – In the first-round play of the 22nd Annual NAIA Softball National Championship at Wilson Morgan Park in Decatur, Alabama, unseeded University of Mary (N.D.) shocked third-seeded Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University (Tenn.), 2-0.
Mary (29-15) scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the victory.Ìý Angela Bautista sacrificed bunt to score Stephanie Johnson for the winning run.Ìý Cassandra Smith singled to center field to score Nicole Seaver for the insurance run.Ìý Danelle Murphy was credited with the win, striking out five and allowing two hits in seven innings.Ìý The Marauders advance to play No. 11 Houston Baptist University (Texas) (42-12) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Rachel Murray suffered the loss for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, dropping her season record to 27-4.Ìý The Lady Bulldogs (50-6) will play the winner of Columbia (Mo.) vs. Nova Southeastern (Fla.) at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
