Coach’s Comments. James is a multi-talented freshman who will
back up both middle infield positions, as well as, contribute quality innings on
the mound. He has the confidence of his coaches and teammates. James gives us
options if the starting infield doesn’t play well.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Career. 2005...First Bulldog Season.
Before Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Brasfield was a two sport athlete in baseball and
football. In baseball at Humbodlt HS. Brasfield was named first team
All-District three times (2002-2004). He also led his summer league team to
back-to-back Babe Ruth State Championships (2002-2003). Brasfield was named the
Babe Ruth State Tournament MVP in 2002. In football, Brasfield earned first Team
All-Region honors as a senior and second team All-Region honors as a junior as a
Punter for the Humboldt Vikings. In his senior baseball season for Humboldt,
Brasfield hit .405 and stole 18-of-19 bases on the season. As a pitcher, he was
just as impressive with a 5-2 record and a 2.20 ERA. Brasfield tallied 68
strikeouts in 47 innings pitched. Brasfield graduated with honors from Humboldt
High School, attended American Legion Boys State, participated in the Gibson
County Youth Leadership program, and was named a 2004 Viking Service Scholar.
